Road journeys are part of the trip and can take up much of a day. Road conditions and the weather affect travel times. We plan the route around your dates, planned visits and preferred pace. Any journey times we give are estimates.

For travellers who want to explore Madagascar at their own pace, with comfortable places to stay and stops chosen around their interests. Our routes combine nature, visits and time to relax. We plan them with you, taking into account the time you have and the level of comfort you prefer.

First, tell us about your travel experience and what matters to you: comfort, driving times, walks or activities. We use this to suggest a suitable pace and route. Some itineraries involve more travel or physical effort than others, so it helps to understand what to expect before choosing.

Entry requirements depend on your passport and the length of your stay. A tourist visa may be obtained through a Malagasy consulate or on arrival at the airport. Before travelling, check the required documents, passport validity and fees with the Malagasy authorities. We can point you towards information relevant to your situation.

Consult a doctor or travel health clinic before departure and take your itinerary with you. They can review your vaccinations, malaria prevention and protection against mosquito bites. A yellow fever vaccination certificate may be required depending on the countries you have visited or transited through before arrival. We provide your itinerary to help you prepare for the consultation; medical advice should come from a healthcare professional.

Malagasy is the national language, and French is very widely spoken, particularly in tourism and in the cities. Our current programmes include a French-speaking guide. We plan the trip with you in English, and if you would like a guide in another language, tell us at the first conversation so we can look at what is possible on each stage.

We plan the itinerary and coordinate the accommodation, transport and activities listed in your quote with local providers. You deal with our team in Madagascar while planning the trip and can contact us with questions during your stay. The quote sets out the services we arrange.

Zeno Travel Madagascar is operated by HAPTA ZENO SARL, based in Antananarivo. The company holds a Category B tour operator licence issued by Madagascar’s Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts. Our team plans the trip and coordinates services with local partners. Company details are available in the website’s legal notice.

We select places to stay based on their location, your preferred level of comfort and your budget. For transport and activities, we choose providers to suit the planned route. The proposed accommodation and services are specified in your quote.

We start with your dates, the number of travellers, your interests and your budget. We then propose an itinerary and quote, which we refine with you. Before booking, you review the agreed services and the payment and cancellation terms.

The East and South itineraries are starting points. We can adapt the length, stops, accommodation and activities to your plans. Changes also need to take account of travel times, the season, availability and budget. We explain what is possible before finalising the itinerary.

Get in touch as soon as you know your dates, especially if you have a particular period or accommodation in mind. Room and transport availability can limit the options. For a departure at short notice, we check what can still be arranged before making a proposal.

Depending on the route, the trip combines a private vehicle with a driver, boat transfers and sometimes a domestic flight. The quote specifies the journeys and transport included. Road journeys can be long, and we take this into account when planning the itinerary.

A family trip needs to take account of the children’s ages, their comfort with the planned activities and travel times. We adapt the stops and allow time to rest. Walks and boat trips need to be considered individually. Tell us the children’s ages and your needs at the start so that we can explore a suitable route.

You have a Zeno contact during your stay. If weather or transport disruption means a stop has to change, our team checks the options with the providers and explains the possible alternatives. Availability and any additional costs are considered in light of the situation and your booking terms.

Precautions depend on the regions, the journeys involved and current conditions. We plan the route accordingly and explain the precautions to take. This preparation does not replace personal vigilance or official advice: check your country’s travel advice before booking and again before departure.

The price depends on the length of the trip, the travel period, the number of travellers, accommodation and transport. Tell us your budget and whether it includes international flights. We prepare a detailed quote and explain the choices that affect the price.

Allow for international flights, any applicable visa or entry fees, travel insurance, meals not included, tips and personal spending. Optional activities and any other services not included also need to be budgeted for. The quote distinguishes what is included from what you will need to pay separately.

No, we do not sell travel insurance, and it is not included in the itineraries shown. We recommend taking out a policy. Check the cover, limits and exclusions with your insurer for medical care, medical evacuation, repatriation, cancellation and planned activities. We provide the itinerary to help you make those checks.

Booking, payment, changes and cancellation terms are set out in the proposal and the conditions sent with your quote. We go through them with you before any commitment.
